The document should be published and released in the spring of 2009 for public proposals on the text. Final adoption is scheduled for 2011 or 2012.
Chapter 4 includes the detailed commissioning procedures, intended as a companion to the Ashrae documents for commissioning building systems other than the Fire protection and life safety systems. This chapter contains considerable information that should be reviewed.
There was considerable debate on Chapter Nine concerning the follow-up or “periodic” integrated system testing.
Integrated System testing consists coordinating the testing of all fire protection and life safety systems that are interconnected.
Several members were adamant that there should be no maximum interval (“five years” is the proposed maximum interval permitted for periodic integrated system testing). The majority of the committee agreed that some set maximum interval was necessary. Five years was selected because one year was considered too frequent and Five years coincided with NFPA 25 testing of suppression system pumps.
The current text of the document is for Committee use only, so I cannot provide “quotes”at this time.
